Shure KSM44 Condenser Mic

If you’re looking for a professional quality microphone at reasonable (although certainly not cheap) price then you should definitely consider buying a Shure KSM44 Condenser Mic.
This large diaphragm mic has a very neutral frequency response and a multi-pattern switch (cardioid, figure-8, & omnidirectional) which makes it an extremely versatile mic. Because of this it can be used as a sort of “one size fits all” mic which makes it perfect for those of us with a home recording studio without a huge amount of mics to choose from.
It works very well for recording vocals, acoustic guitars, drum overheads, & percussion.
Going from a cheap mic to a pro quality mic such as this one is one of the best things you can do to improve the quality of the recordings you make at your recording studio.
Of course like any other condenser mic, the KSM44 needs a quality mic preamp for the best sound quality. An affordable choice is the Art MPA Gold Tube Preamp (which sounds especially great if you replace the stock tubes with some higher quality tubes.)
