Two big pieces of news from Amazon.com today:

(#1) For the first time ever the best selling Kindle reading device will be available with “global wireless” which means that it can be used all around the world instead of just in the US like the original Kindle.  The Kindle With Global Wireless will be released on October 19th but it can be pre-ordered starting today! For now this device is only available to be ordered at the US based Amazon.com, but customers from the UK and Canada can order it from the US store.

(#2) The price of the original Kindle (which only works properly in the US) has dropped from $299 to just $259.
